4families available in Bunbury

11 May, 2015

The family mental health support program 4families has launched its newest location and is now available to people living in Bunbury and nearby areas, including Collie and Harvey.

4families is a free service that can help children and young people, as well as support families, parents, grandparents and carers so they don’t need to face tough times alone.

Senior Manager – 4families Janalie Nelson said sometimes it can be comforting to parents just to know that they are not alone.

“When children talk to adults about their worries and anxieties or kids act out in anger, parents don’t always know how to respond,” she said.

“We can help children and adults to develop more effective ways of dealing with their strong emotions.”

Ms Nelson said the service offers whatever support children, young people and their families, parents or carers need.

4families offers such a flexible and responsive service and I’m really excited that we can offer it to children, young people and families in Bunbury, seeing that it has proven to be a very successful program in our other locations.

“We also link them to a variety of services to reduce family stress and enable children and young people to reach their full potential.”

4families can provide:

  • counselling and emotional support
  • information and referrals
  • home-based family support
  • workshops, seminars and groups
  • community development activities
  • support for grandparents and carers
4families is run by Relationships Australia WA and is funded by the Australian Government, Department of Social Services.
