Homestretch campaign

28 Jul, 2017

Relationships Australia is proud to be supporting the Homestretch campaign. Homestretch is lobbying for state provision of out-of-home care for young people to be extended from 18 years old to 21 years.

Currently, out-of-home care is only provided till 18 years of age. The Homestretch campaign is encouraging state governments to provide an option for young people to continue in this care until the age of 21 years. The extended age would match similar patterns in most other Australian families.

We strongly support a society that prioritises the health and wellbeing of its young people, especially those that are the most vulnerable. We see our commitment to the Homestretch campaign as significant to the role we have in protecting, supporting and providing services to children and young people so that they can have a better start in life, and enjoy happier, healthier and safer lives in the long term.
