Fathering for Life is a free group program for fathers involved in Family Court proceedings who recognise they have used hurtful, harmful or abusive behaviours in their family relationships and are willing to address these behaviours in the best interests of their children.
Please note there is currently a waitlist for assessments and group attendance. For further details on this please call us on 6164 0270 and select option 5.
What we offer
Fathers attend an initial individual assessment, then if appropriate, participate in group sessions for 2 hours each week (15 weeks in total). In the group they will be invited to:
- examine the impact of their behaviours on their children
- explore their roles as a supportive father and parenting partner
- uncover the attitudes and beliefs that support the use of hurtful, harmful or abusive behaviours
- develop a more engaging and nurturing relationship with their children that promotes their children’s wellbeing and safety
It is a requirement of participation in the group program that the service has contact with the other party.
Reports (fees apply)
Letters or certificates of attendance are not provided. Written reports on participation and progress can be provided at a fee. A written request or court order for a report, including responsibility for payment, is required before starting the program.
