Course Summary

Research reveals that it can be a challenge for parents to keep their culture as they raise their children in a new country. Getting the balance right between the development of a strong ethnic identity and incorporating the positive aspects of Australian society into parenting styles can be a challenge.

This workshop aims to strengthen the ability of culturally and linguistically diverse parents to raise their young and adolescent children confidently and capably in the Australian context.

Participants will be encouraged to explore various themes, amongst which will be:

  • parenting styles that assist in transmitting family values
  • how to set boundaries and consequences
  • brain development and its effect on behaviour
