New parenting programs

09 Sep, 2016

We are pleased to announce the introduction of three new parenting programs - Circle of Security Parenting, Tuning in to Kids and Tuning in to Teens.

These evidence based, emotion focused parenting programs have been introduced to help parents make a positive difference to their child’s development and build emotional competence in their children.

Schools are increasingly focused on this due to research indicating that only half of children’s success is due to intelligence, with the rest determined by their social and emotional abilities (Liff, 2003 & Denham 2006).

These new relationship based parenting programs introduce skills that encourage the development of emotional intelligence, self-regulation, resilience and emotion coaching.

They also aim to build on parents’ existing capacity to attach and connect to their children and guide them in how to respond to and engage with their child’s emotional life, so that the child can learn to understand and regulate their emotions.

Circle of Security

The Circle of Security Parenting Workshop is a 6 week relationship based program for parents with children from 0-4 years of age, based on decades of attachment theory research.

The program is designed to enhance attachment security between parents and children and provides a more natural and gentle approach to parenting that focuses on the needs of the child and the reason behind their behaviour rather than disciplining them or ignoring them.

Tuning in to Teens

Tuning in to Teens is a 6 week relationship based program for parents with teens from
10 - 16 years.

This program will help you navigate those difficult teenage years.
There is a significant shift in focus when we approach these years and parenting skills sometimes need a “tune up”.

Tuning in to Teens shows you how to help your teen develop emotional intelligence which will guide them in situations of peer pressure, allow them to have more stable and satisfying relationships with friends and family, help them cope when they are angry or upset and learn the art of problem solving.

The program provides information, strategies and resources for parents to help them promote emotional intelligence in their children and improve their child’s capacity to understand their own and others' emotions.

Parents will learn how to communicate more effectively with their child, minimise their child’s difficult behaviours and help their child manage their emotions, build resilience, problem solve and deal with conflict.
