New course helping couples turn conflict into connection
Navigating differing opinions and thoughts is a part of all relationships. When conflict in couples is managed constructively, it can foster deeper understanding, strengthen relationships, and support personal growth.
Relationships Australia WA Education Coordinator says the new ‘Managing Conflict for Couples Course’ may hold some of the answers.
“Conflict doesn’t mean a relationship is broken — it means there's something to learn,” they said.
“This course gives couples the tools to communicate with care, listen with empathy, and grow together.”
Fellow course facilitator and Relationship Educator, says people often avoid conflict as they think it reflects negatively on their relationship.
“When conflict is welcomed, each individual can be acknowledged as a separate, unique entity with their own values, needs, and preferences,” they said.
The new course is open to couples willing to understand how conflict, when approached constructively, can become a powerful catalyst for growth and intimacy.
Held over two evenings, Thursday 28 August and Thursday 4 September, the multi-week course explores common myths about conflict, how it is a natural part of relationships, recognising the brain’s role in emotional responses during conflict, the difference between destructive and constructive conflict, and developing strategies to repair and rebuild connection after conflict.
Please note: This course is for couples that are living together and committed to working on strengthening their relationship knowledge and skills.
If your client is experiencing distress or thinking of separating, our couples counselling services would be more appropriate. This course is not suitable for couples where there is domestic violence (DV) – please seek our counselling or Family & Domestic Violence support services.
Bookings are now open for all courses.
